Backbone infrastructure

ATU has deployed an optical fibre network that facilitates the data communications of Albania. The network is constructed along the national road highways.

The transmission technology used is DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) allowing for data transmission in very high capacities. SDH and Ethernet are supported offering point to point connections and IP transit services.

The deployment of the fiber network is performed by:

  • Trenching Method

    Usage of the mini trenching method for the construction of the infrastructure.

  • Blowing Method

    The fiber blowing method for installation of the fiber optic cable.

  • Splicer Machinery

    The fusion splicer machinery for the splicing of the optic cable.
