Based on the state of the art transmission equipment and redundant fiber optic network, ATU announces the Direct Internet Access (DIA) service offering throughout the country. The Direct Internet Services include capacities that range from 20- 100 Mbps for the corporate segment, from 100 – 500 Mbps for the local ISP segment and from 500 – 1,000Mbps for the National ISP segment.
This service is offered to National and Local Internet Service Providers, and to Corporate businesses looking for broadband services and direct access to the backbone ATU network.

Over 600km of network infrastructure has been constructed. Over 450km of fibre has been installed. More than 7 PoPs have been deployed in the major cities of Albania. ATU network is terminates at the border with every neighboring country.

During the 3rd Infocom forum ATU, on December 6th, 2011, in Tirana, ATU has been awarded the excellence award for the realization of the: Deployment of the fiber optics on Albanian territory.
CEO of company Mr. Sophocles Stathoulis received the award on behalf of ATU. During his speech Mr. Stathoulis informed on the progress of the company and the immense developments that the backbone infrastructure can and will bring to the Albanian market.

The 3rd InfoCom Albanian Telecom Forum (www.infocomalbania.com) will take place on Tuesday, December 6th, 2011 at Sheraton Tirana Hotel, Albania and is expected to become the main attraction for the Telecom & Information Technology industry.
ATU, amongst other leading telecommunication companies of the country, will participate in this forum as a gold sponsor.
With an eye to the future, the main theme of the 3rd InfoCom Albanian Telecom Forum is "Digital Albania: Driving the Broadband Highway", given that the country is currently at a turning point: it should take a final decision on its digital future, as the developments on its effort to converge with the European institutions are expected to be fast and vast.

A new era in the optical fiber transmission technology has begun in Albania. Albanian Telecommunications Union (ATU), the innovative provider of high capacity services in the country, officially announces that it has completed the construction of the first phase of the optical fiber network and is ready to provide services to interested companies and organizations in the local market.
On December 13, 2010 ATU begun the construction of a new optical fiber network and announces that the first part of this network that connects some of the major cities of the country (Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan, Pogradec and Korçë) is ready for operation. ATU also offers the possibility of international interconnections with the neighboring countries (Greece, FYROM / Macedonia and Italy).
This part of the network will provide point to point connections and IP transit services. Based on the completed part of the project, the part which is currently being constructed and the segments planned for development in the future,
